One of the great questions of modern-day Christianity is whether those who are truly saved can lose their salvation. Jesus answers this gnawing question in no uncertain terms in another of His straight-forward predestinarian statements in John. Not only will He insure the eternal safety of His sheep, but His Father will as well. We will look at these verses carefully, noting the fact of God's omnipotence in the perseverance of the saints. But we will also discover a less obvious but even more glorious reason for that security in the love bond between the Father and the Son. We will rejoice and celebrate being forever His when we realize the true nature of the Givers and the gifts.
